Troy graduated from Western College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Saskatchewan in 1997. Following a surgical internship in Alberta, he returned to Western and completed a 3 year Large Animal Surgical Residency with a concurrent Masters of Veterinary Science degree. He then continued as a Clinical Associate in Large Animal Surgery. 
Following certification in 2002 by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, Troy accepted a position at Iowa State University as an Assistant Professor of Equine Surgery. For the last three years, Troy has worked as a locum surgeon in private and academic institutions in Australia and Canada including Scone Equine Hospital in 2005. He joined Scone Equine Hospital full time in 2008.

The SEH has five Specialists in Equine Medicine or Surgery and a number of highly experienced senior veterinarians. Their skills and experiences cover all disciplines of equine veterinary science.
